Welcome from the Principal
Ormeau State School’s motto, Helping Each Other to do Our Best, reflects our commitment to building a strong foundation for the future success of our students.
What does our school seek for Ormeau children?
We want an Ormeau child to be happy, to be a competent learner, to be a confident member of the school community, to have faith in his/her teacher and to feel sure of the teacher’s regard and interest. To achieve all this we set rules and goals which are attainable and, to the student, sensible. Our teachers actively seek out evidence of bullying in any form and act strongly to resolve any such situation.
All at the school are proud of its attainments, of our pupils’ appearance, and of the parents who have worked so hard with us to achieve students who fully achieve their potential.
Success follows our ability for students, teachers and parents to work together. Partnerships between home and school are vital, and we look forward to working closely with you.
Ormeau State School builds on a history of more than 125 years of learning and teaching. Now we are meeting the challenges of a rapidly changing world. As a school community we value opportunity, responsibility, manners, excellence, acceptance and unity.
We work together for the success of our students. Our staff knows the importance of building quality relationships with students, and supporting partnerships with parents. We understand that teachers make a difference, and strive ourselves for teaching excellence. We understand, also, that demonstrated warm regard for students by teachers is the most secure platform on which to build these relationships.
High expectations, with a strong focus on intellectual challenge, curriculum relevance and individualised support for our students, underpin what we do day-to-day. We are building a balanced education that includes a comprehensive integrated program and diverse sporting activities, as well as academic rigor. Values education is fundamental to all aspects of school activity, with a determination to develop student leadership potential, interpersonal capacities and social responsibility.
As principal of Ormeau I am enormously proud of the achievements of our students, and also of the great achievements of our staff and parents. This is a strong school that puts children first.
